An outdoor plant for the traction current generation was put into operation in December 2010 in Obermatt, Switzerland.
This is a static frequency converter in container design of ABB Switzerland Ltd. with a 15 kV switchgear.
IPCOMM developed the protocol conversion software to couple ABB and Siemens protection devices with the master stations. The protocol conversion software is installed on
available gateways running under Windows XP.
Data exchange with the ABB protection devices 'AC 800 PEC' is done via OPC AE (alarm & events) as well as OPC DA (data access) interface.
IPCOMM provided the respective OPC clients OPC AE 1.10, Client and OPC DA 3.0, Client.
Gateway#2 and the SIPROTEC catenary protection device communicate with IEC 60870-5-103.
The installation of the OPC servers OPC AE 1.10, Server and OPC DA 3.0, Server on gateway#2 allows the further connection to gateway#1.
OPC information is converted into IEC 60870-5-101 to communicate with the master station.
Gateway#1, #3 and #4 are used with identical protocol conversion software, whereas gateway#3 and gateway#1 operate in parallel.
