Coupling between the Siemens LSA and the superordinate control stations is
implemented with the ipConv #1 - #3 protocol converters. Communication between protocol converter and legacy control
station (VZLS) is based on the Indactic 23 protocol. The connection to the new
control station uses IEC 60870-5-104. Both the legacy control station (VZLS) and the
new control station communicate in command and monitoring direction. A current
mirror image of the
information is buffered in the converter, which can be retrieved in a general
poll by either of the two control stations.
An any one time, only one of the two control stations has authorization to
send commands to the LSA. This authorization to send commands is transferred by
the Siemens PowerCC control station. Based on this decision, the protocol
converters #1 - #3 knows whose commands to pass on.
Each protocol converter transmits about 4,500 data points.
