  • IPCOMM delivered ipConv gateways to link the SIMATIC TDC (master, slave) with the protection relays (server) as well as the control station (master).
The communication between gateway and control station is done by the protocols IEC 60870-5-101 and IEC 60870-5-104. The gateway is configured as "slave".
The communication between gateway and protection relays is done via Ethernet, TCP/IP with IEC 61850. The gateway is configured as "client".
The communication between gateway and TDC control system is done via Ethernet, TCP/IP with the protocol Simatic TDC. Thereby the gateway behaves as "master" or "slave".
Our industrial pc IPC191V3 19" 1U is used as hardware platform to transmit about 4,500 data points. The mass storage is a CompactFlash (without rotating parts) with an MTBF ≥ 1,000,000 h. Distant terminals should be connected with the RS-232 interfaces of the gateways by using V.24 standard.
The gateways operate redundantly in "hot standby" mode. This means only one of the two devices is active at any time. The passive device monitors the active one and if the active one fails, the passive one automatically steps in and resumes communication. Our proprietary channel switch CS enables the physical connection of the serial lines.
